  • Responsibilities

    STGi is looking for a Psychologist to perform remote review/televisits for cases focusing on Pre-Employment Law Enforcement/Safety evaluations and Fitness for Duty evaluations for a federal agency.  

     

    Minimum duties may include but are not limited to:

    • Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests, and formulate and administer programs of treatment.
    • Providing expert advise to FOH on occupational health issues involving mental or behavioral health;
    • performing psychological evaluations;
    • witnessing testimony regarding such issues as fitness for duty or reasonable accommodation.
    • Applying program requirements as required (training provided); attending required meetings, briefings, and conferences; administering annual clinical structured interview; administering and interpreting MMP-2; IPAT; and Personality Assessment Inventory tests; utilizing substance abuse identification tool (ie CAGE) and be willing and able to make determination of position suitability based on the psychological interview and test results as they relate to the job task analysis and the medical standards provided;
    • communicating information related to psych program or employee suitability as needed; providing expert witness testimony in support of their psychological recommendations regarding employability and reasonable accommodation.
    • leading others; interfacing and consulting with others as required; assisting with implementation of new psych tests; evaluating and assessing psych program security information;
    • making final psychological recommendations in difficult cases.
    • Conducting psychological evaluation with focus on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other readjustment issues.
    • conducting psychological evaluation that integrate data from multiple sources, including semi-structured interview, psychological testing, supervisor report, military document, veteran affairs disability rating decision and/or other external documentation.
    • coordinating psychological evaluation findings with appropriate staff and personnel; providing psychological support and referrals to at-risk employees who have been temporarily suspended.
    • preparing formal behavioral consultations for leadership with written file reviews that integrate personnel security and other sources of information to render recommendations about reliability for related duties;
    • support training exercises and policy development; developing and delivering training briefings to raise awareness of organizational and psychological issues that may compromise fitness for duty, safety, and security (e.g., alcohol awareness, delayed-onset post trauma stress disorder secondary to combat, and family stressors associated employees' duties.

     

     

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 

    • As demonstrated through experience on CV/resume, must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.   
    • Candidates must be highly organized and be able to coordinate with teams of staff and administrative processes in order to provide behavioral health services.  Good problem-solving and decision making skills are an asset. 
    • Must have a demonstrated ability to complete consultation and review assignments on time and within budget while meeting high quality standards. 
    • Collaborates with peers and others in problem-solving efforts and supports FOH leadership recommendations. 
    • Incumbent must be proficient using Microsoft applications, basic computer and website use.

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D, D. Psy., Ed.D.), a clinical psychology internship or residency, and a current license to practice within any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, or Territory. Board certification is not required for psychologists.
    • However, if board certification is offered as a credential by an applicant or incumbent, FOH will only recognize those specialty boards affiliated with the American Board of Professional Psychology or the American Board of Neuropsychology.
    • A psychologist applicant must have a minimum of two (2) years of independent practice experience in clinical or forensic psychology, preferably in a federal government setting. 
    • Must possess expert understanding of Federal safety and health regulations, and existing guidelines as pertain to standards of practice such as those from the American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the Police Psychology Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. 
    • Must possess experience and expertise in conducting fitness for duty, pre-employment, and security clearance evaluations (depending on the type of review service that the psychologist provides) and providing guidance with regard to behavioral health related ADA requests. 
    • May be required to obtain a security clearance depending upon the position

    Required Experience

    REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE A DOCTORAL DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY WITH A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS PRACTICE EXPERIENCE IN CLINICAL OR FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY; EXPERIENCE IN CONDUCTING FITNESS FOR DUTY PRE-EMPLOYMENT AND SECURITY CLEARANCE EVALUATIONS.  ALSO PROVIDE GUIDANCE WITH REGARD TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RELATED ADA REQUESTS.
