  • Responsibilities

     

    DESCRIPTION

    This position manages emergency situations and coordinates responses from all relevant parties. It communicates with first responders and operates the automatic notification system. This role maintains records of all incidents, and railroad signal trouble reports. It ensures repairs are scheduled and completed to resolve trouble reports.

     

    Uses developed specialized skills to complete a wide range of tasks and procedures with a limited degree of supervision. Takes a broad approach to problems. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Delivers work, which often impacts quality of team output to agreed timescales, service levels or similar metric.

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Responds to complaints received from published phone line by notifying and scheduling appropriate Signal Maintainer, Engineering, or Dispatcher staff and following to resolution. May escalate complex issues to the Critical Incident Coordinator.
    • Assists in scheduling and directing work activity for Signal Maintainers.
    • Monitors severe weather conditions and reports to appropriate departments.
    • Creates and formats the Top Copy report for the Transportation morning report.
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

     

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

     REQUIRED

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations

    PREFERRED

    • Railroad signal, track, or transportation experience
    • Working knowledge of KCS, FRA and NTSB policies
    • Familiarity with train schedules, rail network, KCS claims, signal and maintenance of way
    • Ability to obtain certification in GCOR, HAZMAT, and pass the roadway worker examination

    • Shift work - 24/7
    • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications

    Requires general knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials. Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully. Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product. Ability to use micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly. Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides and the timing of the head stops). Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment under guidance of senior level Press Operators.

    With or without an accommodation must be able to lift and handle materials of 50+ lbs, while pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting and twisting; and must be able to stand continually with frequent bending, climbing and squatting.

    Ability to work in a team environment, be reliable and have excellent attention to detail.

    Ability to work all shifts and overtime as required based upon production demands.
