    DESCRIPTION

    This position is part of the KCS Technical Operation Center(TAC) operations team. The Technical Assistance Center (TAC) provides 24x7 monitoring, Tier I and Tier II support for the Kansas City Southern Railway Information Technology infrastructure. This position provides Tier I and sometimes Tier II support for network related incidents for Kansas City Southern Railway in order to suport the business objectives and ongoing operations for the Information Technology infrastructure of Kansas City Southern Railway.

    This job position troubleshoots, follows up and provide resolution to incidentes and requirements related to IT issues that impact the IT Operations and the business. The supported technologies include microwave networks, MPLS network, wireless networks, IP telephony, data center technologies, train movement solution (radio dispatching system and centralized trafic control) and other applications. Escalates incidents to Tier II suppor If required.

    Collaborates in projects during the build, implementation, troubleshoot and monitoring phases following previous templates provided by Engineering or TAC Supervisor Sr. Works on solutions for vulnerabilities following the recommendations provided by TAC Supervisor Sr.

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Incident Management:
      • Responds to customer incidents and provides production support coverage.
      • Monitor the progress of the work of the TAC team.
      • Opens, manages and resolve incidents.
      • Meets resolution SLAs.
      • Validates documentation on Incidents
    • Change Management:
      • Reviews all changes that could impact services monitored by TAC.
      • Engages IT teams for impact assessment.
    • Problem management:
      • Identifies and logs problem related to IT services.
      • Engages with resolution teams and coordinates them through root cause identification and follow up resolution.
    • Monitoring services:
      • Monitors network performance
      • Follows up on new monitoring services requests.
      • Update procedures and troubleshooting guides for TAC operations based on information provided by TAC Manager.
      • Assists with configuration and monitoring solutions in the distributed environment.
      • Assists in the monitoring and alerting of the KCS production environments, as well as the applications running in the environments
      • Updates log entries used for TAC Supervisor teams and managers.
    • Request management:
      • Work with TAC Supervisors for firmware upgrades
      • Services mapping and drawing diagrams in MS Visio.
      • Maintains diagrams updated of the different sites that the TAC supports.
      • Updates information in monitoring tools.
      • Validates documentation on Requests
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 90% English Proficiency both in reading, writing & speaking. This would include technical, business and casual situations.

    PREFERRED

    • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Cisco Routing & Switching technologies.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with at least two of the following network & monitoring solutions: Appdynamics, Dynatrace, Solarwinds, Netsocut, Splunk, Resolve, BigPanda, or Zenoss.
    • One (1) year administering, customizing and integrating monitoring tools.
    • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network, application and performance issues
    • Three (3) years of experience working in an ITIL aligned company; ability to work in a change management model with a great attention to detail and best practices following ITIL best practices framework.
    • CCNP Enterprise Certification
    • ITIL Foundations Certification.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Cisco Routing & Switching technologies.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with any other Cisco technology such as: Security, Wireless, or IP Telephony (Voice).
    • Intermediate knowledge of: Cisco NEXUS (9K, 7K, 5K, 2K) switches and routers, Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS,TCP/IP, LAN switching, routing and routing protocols, Access Lists, NAT, VPNs and VLANs, Expert knowledge of dynamic routing, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and route redistribution.
    • Intermediate knowledge of: IPsec Site-to-Site VPNs, MPLS, Fiber Optic, and Gigabit and Metro Ethernet, Cisco voice applications.
    • Basic knowledge of F5 load balancers
    • Experience with Cisco wireless controllers, mesh bridges and cambium wireless technologies.
    • Basic knowledge on Cisco FirePower Firewalls or Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
    • One of the following certifications:CCNP Data Center, CCNP Collaboration, CCNA Collaboration.
    • One year working with one of the following programing languages:.NET, Java, SQL, Phython or C++.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • On-call responsibilities are an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support operations of mission critical systems and/or processes 24 hours per day/7 days per week. On-call assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.

    • Sense of urgency.
    • Capable of learning a new technology in a short period of time ( no more than 5 months ).
    • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
