  • Responsibilities

    Purpose and Expectations:

    The purpose of a Process Technician is to provide support to direct manufacturing activities. This is in the form of repairing fixtures, secondary equipment, minor mold repair, building robot arm tooling, storage of molds and fixtures, maintaining mold records, and mold /fixture preventative maintenance. The position will require familiarity with quality expectations.

    In addition, each associate must understand the production standards and communicate any variances to the standard to their supervisor. All associates are expected to perform all activities in a safe manner and report any safety concerns or injuries immediately. Work areas are to be maintained in a clean and organized state at all times. Also, the associate is to ensure that parts are being manufactured and packaged to meet customers expectations within a standard for each job.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Provide mold and fixture preventative maintenance.
    2. Maintain molds in running order.
    3. Must be at a skilled mechanics level.
    4. Requires a strong background in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems and controls.
    5. Store and document molds and fixtures.
    6. Change mold inserts (as equipment requires).
    7. Change secondary equipment inserts and nesting.
    8. Diagnose (troubleshoot) secondary equipment problems.
    9. Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude with co-workers, employer, customers and suppliers.
    10. Uphold a strong desire to learn new and changing technologies.
    11. Perform activities in a safe manner.
    12. Must have acceptable attendance record.
    13. Ability to manage and train subordinate(s).
    14. Must attend all mandatory company meeting and safety education sessions.
    15. Perform any other duties as assigned.
    16. A high level of ability to troubleshoot processing problems and make adjustments to make good parts is a requirement.

    Required Skills

    Physical Demands:

    1. Standing and walking for periods of eight hours at a time.
    2. Reaching, feeling, handling, grasping, twisting and turning.
    3. Twisting and turning.
    4. Lifting, carrying, pushing and or pulling heavy objects, no limit on weight but must use good judgement on how things are moved and what assisted means are utilized.
    5. Ability to distinguish colors and shading.
    6. If the associate requires corrective vision lenses, they must have and use them to be able to perform the part quality inspections.
    7. Good communication skills with the ability to speak and hear others clearly.

    Environmental and Working Conditions:

    1. Work with some chemicals.
    2. Work with electronics and hydraulics.
    3. Work in a fairly warm environment.
    4. Work in an environment where safety is a priority.

    Equipment Used:

    1. Various gauges and measurement instrumentation.
    2. Various machine controllers

    Required Experience

    Education:

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

     

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    1. Pass company skill level testing.
    2. Effective oral and written communication with a wide variety of people.
    3. Understand and follow work rules.
    4. Basic math functions, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
    5. Ability to work independently and within a group setting.
    6. Ability to give proper and accurate instructions as well as receiving input.
    7. Knowledge of Injection molding process, secondary and robot equipment.
    8. Basic computer skills.
    9. Scientific molding experience is a plus.
