    Rohingya Culture Center Background:

The Rohingya Culture Center (RCC) was founded in 2016 in the heart of Chicago’s West Ridge/West Rogers Park neighborhood to meet the needs of the city’s growing Rohingya refugee population. Since 2010, over 600 Rohingya families have resettled in Chicago, and RCC has become a vital resource for them, offering language classes, employment support, youth programs, and access to social services. RCC serves not only the Rohingya but also other refugee and immigrant communities seeking assistance.

    Job Summary:

The RSS Program Assistant supports the Employment Case Management (ECM) program within Refugee Support Services (RSS) at the Rohingya Culture Center. This role helps ensure the program runs smoothly by assisting with eligibility checks, client outreach, data tracking, reporting, and general support for the case management team. The assistant also helps with administrative work, staff communication, and jumping in wherever needed to support RSS programming. This is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, flexible, and passionate about helping refugee and immigrant communities succeed in employment and self-sufficiency.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Client Eligibility & Outreach:

Help determine client eligibility for ECM services using internal databases and documents.

Review case management sheets to identify clients who may qualify for ECM support.

Contact clients to connect them with employment-focused services and referrals.

Use Salesforce to look up client records and update progress.

Build and maintain friendly, respectful relationships with clients and team members.

Attend meetings with local partner organizations that also receive RSS funding.

    Team Communication:

Share updates from ECM-specific meetings or funding partners with the RSS case management team.

Help keep case managers informed of any changes or new grant requirements.

Support case managers by helping review documentation for completeness and working collaboratively to meet the grant’s high documentation standards.

    Data & Reporting:

Double-check data entries, case notes, and documentation for accuracy.

Help prepare monthly ECM reports and track program goals and metrics.

Keep digital and physical records well-organized and secure, following confidentiality policies.

    Administrative & Program Support:

Assist the Program Director with filing, scanning, copying, shredding, and other office tasks.

Help train new ECM team members, especially in database use and documentation practices.

Support ECM case management when needed, including job trips or employment events.

Be ready to step in and help out wherever the ECM program needs extra support.

    Program Growth & Improvements:

Suggest new ideas to help the ECM program meet performance goals more effectively.

Support efforts to improve internal processes and streamline tasks.

Stay engaged in improving services for clients seeking employment support.

    Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.

Good attention to detail, especially when working with data, forms, and reports.

Flexible and willing to shift tasks based on the day’s needs.

Friendly and respectful when working with clients from different cultural backgrounds.

Comfortable talking with clients, whether in person or over the phone.

A team player who contributes to a positive work environment.

Experience with Salesforce or another client database is ideal, but not required.

English is required for this role.

    Working Conditions:

Requires occasional local travel to attend community outreach activities and community events.

This role is based on-site in an office setting.
