    JOB PURPOSE OR SUMMARY: The Fire and Aviation Management (FAM) staff of the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USDA-FS) has broad responsibilities for wildland fire suppression, management, planning and operations which include information technology support. The FAM IT branch manages a portfolio of application systems and databases, tools, websites, and services related to interagency fire and aviation management. This portfolio is sponsored by the National Wildfire Coordination Group (NWCG), is part of the interagency Wildland Fire Information Technology (WFIT) group and is supported by agencies supporting the interagency mission. These services are fundamental to maintain system and applications which support the life and property missions across the interagency all-hazard and wildland fire communities.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    TRAINING/CURRICULUM - Develop, maintain, execute and coordinate dispatch, administration and report Application User Training Curriculum. Curriculum is developed in Interdisciplinary Project Team (IPT) format.

    Develop/Review/Maintain training Standards working jointly with Project Team and Agency Business Area Committees/Task Forces (e.g., NWCG Wildfire Education Working Team).

    When requested by COR, assist as Lead Instructor, Instructor, Coach and /or Cadre Member.

    TRAINING SESSIONS - Maintain the ROSS/IROC training and practice calendar. This includes (but is not limited to) a running list of sessions, locations, and contacts; updating and covert to PDF; and posting on training web page.

    Coordinate practice and training sessions with the user community; receive and respond to requests for use of training or practice server. Ensure training areas are available; all material is up-to-date and course coordinator understands course logistics. Communicate to course coordinators/trainers; training server instance to be used; password; download instructions for practice and training application; supply courseware as requested; known server or data issues; known workarounds.

    Serve as trouble-shooting contact during the training session.

    TRAINING SERVER DATA MANAGEMENT - Mitigate conflicts with training and practice server’s updates and maintenance. Manage the five training server instances data for ROSS/IROC dispatch training ensuring data accommodates scenarios. This includes determining types of needed data, data edits, entering the data, testing, coordinating the snapshots of data and testing data, Coordinate D310, D110, and California ROSS dispatch data management, coordinating data input and snapshots to capture changes. Coordinate training server resets, patching and version updates with the ROSS/IROC O&M developer so they can be accomplished on schedule but without interrupting training or practice sessions.

    USER DOCUMENTATION - Manage and coordinate the creation, review and maintenance of ROSS/IROC application user documentation. Includes User guides, quick reference cards, tips and tricks, and ROSS/IROC online help and other documents or communications as needed. Coordinate the review and maintenance of outward facing documents on the ROSS/IROC webpage including the documents under the menu headings, Reports, User Support, Training, History and Info DMS, and Org Update.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must possess experience in Wildland Fire Incident Management and a minimum of 3 years’ experience using the specific applications they are supporting.
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, teamwork, communication skills.
    • Real experience with specific application in real situations (dispatch center, incident camp, cache, etc.) within the past 3 years to ensure relevancy and currency.
    • Strong working knowledge of the Interagency Incident Applications Helpdesk and the associated ticketing system, Remedy on Demand is desired.
    • Knowledge of the specific application’s training course material and documentation and experience facilitating, instruction and presenting is desired.
