Job Title: Design Engineer – RV Manufacturing
Location: Elkhart, Indiana
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our RV manufacturing team in Elkhart, Indiana. This role focuses on the design, development, and improvement of recreational vehicle (RV) components and systems, supporting both new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in RV design and advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop RV components, assemblies, and full vehicle systems using SolidWorks
- Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation for manufacturing
- Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility
- Support prototype development and testing phases
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance performance, durability, and cost efficiency
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company specifications
- Participate in design reviews and engineering change processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in RV, automotive, or similar vehicle design
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, and drawings)
- Experience with sheet metal, structural design, and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of RV systems (frame, cabinetry, electrical routing, plumbing integration preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in RV manufacturing or specialty vehicle design
- Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change management
- Experience with FEA or simulation tools
- Lean manufacturing or design-for-manufacturing mindset
