    The Per Diem Music Therapist will be responsible for providing Music Therapy under the direction of the Support Services Manager according to the patient’s unique plan of care. The Music Therapist plans, organizes, and directs medically prescribed music therapy activities as part of psychosocial and physical treatment of patients and their families to influence behavioral and psychological changes.

    Responsibilities:

    Directs and assists patients through music therapy interventions to assist with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, tension, relaxation, and comfort.

    Develops treatment plan, using individualized needs assessment, depending on goal of therapy.

    Studies and analyzes patients' reactions to various experiences and adjusts care plan as needed.

    Provides ongoing education to the clinical team of appropriateness and/or contraindications for treatment.

    Maintains necessary records; clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record within 24 hours of session and modified as needed.

    Participates/collaborates in team meetings as requested.

    Actively participates in educational programs as assigned, including meetings and programs in the community related to Music Therapy.

    Attends staff meetings, IDG, case conferences, educational programs as assigned.

    Other duties as assigned by the Support Services Manager.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program

    Licensure/Certification: Current MT – BC certification from Certification Board for Music Therapists

    Licensed Music Therapist in the State of Connecticut.

    Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
