 COST ACCOUNTANT

Want to work with a company dedicated to making the world a better place through the creation of a bio-based polymer? We are a rapidly growing biotechnology company currently expanding research, development and production facilities in Athens, Georgia. We manufacture bio-based polymers with a goal of replacing (yes, replacing) single-use petroleum-based plastics. Our biopolymers are made from renewable resources that are biodegradable and compostable.

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Cost Accountant. The successful candidate will be proactive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with minimum oversight.

DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• · Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents and records of the organization.
• · Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
• · Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
• · Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
• · Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
• · Analyze any changes in goods or services provided to determine what effect it has on the cost.
• · Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• · Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
• · Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
• · Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
• · Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK EXTENDED HOURS. (WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO CHANGE THE WORLD!)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• · Must be a self-starter.
• · Sound understanding of Accounting principles.
• · Solid cost systems background.
• · Positive attitude with ability to receive coaching and management instruction.
• · Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• · Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
• · Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• · Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• · Excellent report-writing, communication, and IT skills.
• · Strong personal commitment to learn and be cross-trained.
• · Must possess solid problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and team-based skills.
• · Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• · Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background investigation and physical exam.
• · Must pass skills testing and certification for specific needs.
• · In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• · Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
• · 2+ years career experience in Cost Accounting.
• · English language competency required. Including listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.
