    Halfaker has an opening for a SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER to join our talented, dynamic team. The key responsibilities for this position include:​

     

    • Provide supervision of Halfaker staff on multiple Scrum teams, as well as, manage day to day activities of assigned sub-contract staff
    • Lead one or more Scrum team(s) to include development, testing, configuration, data analysis, reports development, and database administration activities
    • Understand overarching solution functionality
    • Conduct code reviews and quality checks of Scrum team deliverables
    • Support and assist the Program Manager/Delivery Lead with the coordination of technical solution reviews and pre-deployment checklists with customers and implementation engineers
    • Use Jira for Scrum ceremonies, managing the backlog, creating tasks/bugs, managing the Scrum board and generating sprint reports
    • Work closely with the Product Owner/Analysts on backlog grooming and backlog management activities
    • Guide the individual Scrum teams on how to use Agile/Scrum best practices
    • Facilitate discussions, decision-making and conflict resolution
    • Lead daily team stand ups, demos, retrospectives, and sprint planning sessions
    • Provide weekly reports and sprint reports that track velocity, burn down, sprint goals and additional sprint metrics
    • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the development teams including liaison between development, testing, architecture, BA, and PMO staff to deliver a viable product that aligns with the plan and requirements traceability

    Required Skills

    • ​Ability to manage teams and help to remove impediments and escalate issues as needed
    • Must be hands-on and independent; able to oversee project deliverables and resources to report back to senior management
    • Experience in full Software Development Lifecycle and the movement of activities through the process from requirements inception to production implementation
    • Experience working in a Scaled Agile (e.g. Scrum of Scrums) and/or Agile Scrum environment
    • Experience managing development schedules in an agile environment
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent time management and change management skills
    • Proactive leader who coaches and mentors team members

    Required Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering management or other engineering or technical discipline is required

    • 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

    8+ years of relevant experience

    3+ years of Scrum Master or Development Manager experience in an Agile environment in the software development field
