    This position is accountable for supporting and facilitating all aspects of the human resources function for the Packaging North business unit. Leads and develops a team of geographically dispersed Human Resources professionals.  Provides strategic direction to leadership, in order to meet current and future talent needs for the organization.  Provides sound advice and counsel to achieve business objectives while ensuring compliance with all federal, country, state, and local statutes, and regulations.  Develops strategies and tactics to improve employee engagement and advance a values-driven culture.  This position reports to the Vice President, Packaging North, with dual line reporting to the LDI CHRO. 

    Required Skills

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Leads the development and implementation of human resources strategies associated with accomplishing business objectives. 
    • Supports the organizational development strategy in the pursuit of a high-performing organization
    • Maintains overall coordination of the Packaging North recruiting, hiring, placement, training, development, and promotion activities to ensure all EEO/AAP requirements and organizational talent objectives are met or exceeded. Advances diversity, equity and inclusion practices throughout the business.
    • Provides direction and support to management to identify and develop promotable talent within the organization.  Works with LDI’s organizational effectiveness team to determine training and development needs and long-range programs accordingly.  Prepares and participates in annual talent assessments and actions.
    • Coordinates the enhancement of individual skills through the organization.
    • Leads the development of appropriate attraction and retention strategies for production staff across the region.
    • Ensures human resources policies and practices are consistent with and support the Company’s values and are in compliance with federal / country, state, and local guidelines and regulations
    • Builds strategies to improve employee and labor relations at union and union free manufacturing facilities.  Participates in preparation for and negotiation of contracts.
    • Maintains salary administration program which ensures competitive, fair and equitable salary programs, partnering with LDI’s compensation team.
    • Performs any necessary due diligence and integration work for acquisitions
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within Human Resources and across functional groups; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities
    • Other duties, as assigned

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Bachelor’ Degree in Business or Human Resources management, or a related field. 
    • 8+ years of human resources leadership experience which includes multi-site responsibilities, preferably in a manufacturing organization.
    • 4+ years of experience administering and negotiating collective bargaining agreements
    • 4+ years of experience leading a team of human resources professionals
    • Strong knowledge of human resources policies and practices including ability to develop / recommend policies, to interpret and apply policies consistently in context of total problem resolution. 
    • Working knowledge of employment and labor laws and their implications.  Knowledge of compensation programs, including salary program design and related federal and state regulations. 
    • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Must be able to travel up to 30%

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

     

    • Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field
    • Ability to act as advisor to management on professional and technical issues with a view toward reaching strategic decisions.  Expert knowledge of employee relations to assist in resolving employee issues in a proactive manner.
    • Special skills which are required include business acumen, strategic planning, organization assessment, leadership and interpersonal skills, strong communications, and quantitative analytical abilities.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strategic planning skills
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
