    PART TIME INSTRUCTOR, ARBORICULTURE - LARIMER CAMPUS

    WHO YOU ARE

    As a part-time faculty member in the Horticulture Program, you will develop and deliver a rigorous, challenging, and engaging curriculum delivered in a hybrid scenario using online and face-to-face teaching methods. You will be responsible for delivering content for Arboriculture as required by the State of Colorado.

    The courses you teach will discusses the installation and life-long care of trees in the landscape. Topics include equipment use and care, ANSI tree care standards, industry safety practices, best management practices, and tree care industry business practices. You will provide hands-on practice and climbing with students when possible.

    You will work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.  You may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities to meet the needs of the College. Online courses and evening classes may be assigned. 

    THIS IS A PART-TIME, TEMPORARY POSITION WITH NO BENEFITS EXCEPT COLORADO STATE RETIREMENT, PERA.

    SALARY: The pay range for Part-Time Instructors varies, depending on the type of course, the contact ratio and contact hours, as well as your level of education and years of teaching.  Please refer to our Part-Time Instructor Pay Matrix for detailed information.

     

     

     

    BENEFITS: Variable hour employees will have their hours measured on an annual basis to determine eligibility to enroll in medical health insurance only for the following benefit period.  (SEE: 2020-2021 Instructor & Variable Hour Employee Benefit Information)

     

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • A related associates (or relevant current industry license or certification) and 4000 verified occupational/industry hours within 7 years;

    OR

    • A related Bachelor’s or any Master’s degree with 18 discipline related credits and 2000 verified occupational/industry hours within 7 years.

     

    RELATED DEGREE, CREDENTIAL AND/OR OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE:

    • ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist
    • Certified Tree-care Safety Professional (CTSP) by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA).
    • Commercial Driver’s License
    • Qualified Supervisor level Pesticide Applicator License (Ornamental Pest Control, Category 207) from the State of Colorado.
    • Able to provide verifiable evidence of having successfully completed an EHAP (Electrical Hazard Awareness Program) and Aerial Rescue Training Program (ARTP) for arborists within the last 12 months.

  • Qualifications

    Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

     Ability to drive all cargo handling equipment.

     Ability to handle the stress of a fast-paced eight hour shift.

     Attend all meetings and complete all training and certification, as required by WFS, customer, airport, and all applicable government agencies.

     Adhere to all airport and facility regulations regarding proper security and identification procedures, including correct escort and security identification badge/challenge responsibilities. 

     Comply with all safety regulations, methods, and procedures required by WFS, customers, airport, and all applicable government agencies. 

     

    Reports to work on a regular and timely basis, “No Call – No Show” and arriving after scheduled time will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.  All exceptions must be approved and documented by Supervisor.  Availability to work all shifts, including, but not limited to, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
