Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by oncologists, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of medical imaging, radiation therapy techniques, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to established protocols and physician instructions.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and safely.
- Conduct patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories and explaining treatment procedures to alleviate patient concerns.
- Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor patients during treatment sessions for any adverse reactions or complications.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments administered, patient progress, and any changes in condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations regarding radiation exposure for both patients and staff.
- Stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technologies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to oncology and radiation therapy.
- Proficiency in radiation therapy techniques and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with medical imaging processes, including CT scans and mammography procedures.
- Understanding of human anatomy and physiology , particularly in relation to cancer treatment.
- Experience in acute care settings, demonstrating the ability to respond effectively in critical situations.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage patient records accurately.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a compassionate approach towards patient care.
- Type of Facility: Children's Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
Qualifications
- Certifications: ARRT R, BLS, State licensed, TMB License
- Years of Experience: 2 year(s)
