Job Description
_ A Day in the Life_
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs radiographic examinations of various anatomical parts and systems of the body in order to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of physical injuries or medical disorders. Must be certified by ARRT in radiography. In addition, may be requested to train and perform in other modalities, i.e., CT, Mammography, etc. and train and work in clinic settings.
Perform Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: Escort and prepare patients, position them correctly, operate radiographic/fluoroscopic and mobile x-ray equipment, select proper technical factors, follow digital imaging protocols, use PACS, prepare/administer contrast media as directed, and assist with first aid or adverse reactions.
Ensure Safety, Infection Control & Quality Standards: Apply radiation safety and protective shielding, follow sterile technique, prevent cross-contamination, maintain cleanliness, uphold universal precautions, ensure equipment is used responsibly, report malfunctions, and maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Support Patient Care & Communication: Provide compassionate care, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, respond to patient needs, educate patients about procedures, and assist in emergencies while upholding professional, ethical, and compliant behavior.
Maintain Records, Equipment & Department Operations: Complete documentation for each case, perform clerical tasks (scheduling, phones, logs), maintain room stock and equipment, assist in outside clinics when needed, participate in call rotation, and support departmental workflow and team collaboration.
Participate in Professional Growth & Organizational Improvement: Maintain certifications and CME credits, stay current in radiologic technology and cross-training areas, instruct students when requested, engage in performance improvement initiatives, demonstrate sound judgment, and present a professional appearance and demeanor.
