Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist/Limited Radiologic Technician performs a full range of routine diagnostic X-ray examinations in an urgent care environment. A successful candidate performs these actions in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations while adhering to Best Remedy Urgent Care’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
Capture radiologic films providing quality images for advanced practice providers to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.
Prepare and position patients anatomically for imaging and select accurate radiation exposure and technical parameters.
Observe patient during procedure and report abnormal activity
Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinement as warranted
Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines
Maintain all necessary certifications and licenses
Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients in accordance with guidelines
Ensure the prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history)
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate
Prepare patient and chart for clinical exam/visit, including the collection of typical patient vital metrics (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight etc.)
Ensure the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other assistive devices
Assist provider with clinical visit
Perform post visit duties
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
Create and document x-ray CD copies correctly according to guidelines
Label images and sleeves accurately
Ensure all necessary paperwork is prepared for the next workday
Restock exam rooms, x-ray room, and office supplies as needed
Adhere to established Best Remedy Urgent Care policies and procedures
Participate in daily huddle with patient care team, staff meetings and training as required
Serve as backup to medical assistant positions
Provide relief and support to medical assistant functions as requested
Assist other team members as requested
Succinctly explain company policies and procedures
Provide service in a manner appropriate for all patients
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements for patient record handling
Manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations and the clinical policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security
Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinical policies and procedures
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong visual, verbal, written and typed communication skills
Strong critical-thinking skills to maintain detailed and accurate patient records and related administrative documentation
Proficiency with computers and ability to use requisite tools, systems, technology and equipment in the collection of patient data
Ability to work with a diverse patient population
Ability to efficiently prioritize and multitask
Working knowledge of medical office processes, terminology and procedures
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Working knowledge of Athena EHR, and PACS strongly preferred
Proficiency with keyboard data entry
Strong working knowledge of radiographic theory and techniques
Education
Required
High School diploma or equivalency
Associate's degree/Technical degree in appropriate field of study
Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
Licenses and Certifications
Must be registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Preferred)
Licensed to practice Diagnostic Radiography by the Maryland Department of Environmental Protection.
