Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled Radiologic Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic medical sonography at WRNMMC, Bethesda. This role involves working independently and collaboratively to provide imaging services that support clinical diagnoses and treatments. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team operating in a high-acuity, fast-paced military hospital environment.
General Duties:
Perform all duties in accordance with DHA and WRNMMC standards.
Work independently or under guidance of the Ultrasound Supervisor or designee.
Abide by all infection control, safety, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance standards.
Specific Duties:
Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures across multiple specialties:
Abdomen, pelvis, OB/GYN, thyroid, breast, scrotal, vascular Doppler, etc.
Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images for radiologist review.
Evaluate patient history and ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed.
Monitor patient condition during procedures and respond to adverse reactions if needed.
Assist with image interpretation and documentation for the radiology team.
Maintain clean and well-stocked work areas and ensure equipment is functioning.
Participate in peer reviews, quality assurance activities, and required training sessions.
Maintain required logs, reports, and documentation in line with WRNMMC procedures.
Collaborate with referring providers to clarify imaging requests or results.
Qualifications:
Degree: Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program.
Education: Graduate of an academic program accredited by CAAHEP.
Certification:
ARDMS or equivalent certification required.
BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (must be current).
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience within the past 2 years in a hospital environment.
Licensure: No state licensure required, but ARDMS registration is mandatory.
Other Requirements: Fit-tested for N95 respirator; familiarity with infection control and PPE protocols.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of ultrasound physics and sonographic techniques.
Skilled in abdominal, vascular, and OB/GYN sonography.
Proficient in using PACS and radiology information systems.
Able to prioritize tasks and work independently under time-sensitive situations.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule:
Rotating shifts, including:
Day: 07:30 – 16:00
Swing: 09:30 – 18:00
Evening: 15:00 – 23:30
Night: 23:00 – 07:30
Weekend and holiday coverage required
Minimum of one shift/month for part-time or PRN workers
Physical Requirements:
Standing for long periods
Assisting patients in and out of exam tables
Occasional lifting of equipment or patients
Work Environment:
Federal military treatment facility
High-volume diagnostic imaging department
Collaboration with military, civilian, and contract healthcare staff
Immunization Requirement:
TB screening and mask fitting (N95)
Annual flu vaccine and any CDC/DoD-recommended vaccinations
Participation in Blood Borne Pathogen Program
Security Requirement:
Must pass background check and security clearance per DHA standards
Must be responsive to on-call notifications and substitutions within 2 hours
