Job Essentials:
Perform and interpret breast imaging procedures
Communicate findings to referring physicians and patients
Participate in biopsy procedures and image-guided interventions
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of breast imaging technologies and protocols
Ensure compliance with MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) and ACR (American College of Radiology) standards
Education Requirements:
- Medical Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Residency: Completion of a radiology residency program
- Fellowship: Subspecialty fellowship in breast imaging or women’s imaging
License/Certification/Registry:
- State Medical License: Must hold a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of employment
- Board Certification: Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiology
- MQSA Compliance: Must meet Mammography Quality Standards Act requirements, including:
- Certification by ARRT or equivalent
- 40 hours of documented mammography training (including breast anatomy, positioning, and pathology)
- ARRT Mammography Credential (optional but preferred): Demonstrates advanced competency in mammography procedures
