Radiology Specialist Assistant

Pay: $52.09 – $85.95 per hour

Job Summary

The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides advanced patient care and procedural support under the supervision of a physician. This role assists with diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, performs patient assessments, and collaborates with the radiology care team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within scope of practice and approved privileges

• Perform patient assessments and assist with treatment planning

• Assist physicians during radiologic and interventional procedures

• Perform fluoroscopic procedures including Upper GI, small bowel follow-through, and barium enemas

• Perform joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance

• Conduct paracentesis, thoracentesis, and image-guided biopsies

• Assist with abscess drain placement, bone marrow biopsies, and breast biopsies

• Prepare procedure rooms and maintain clinical equipment and supplies

• Educate patients, obtain informed consent, and provide pre/post-procedure instructions

• Document procedures and maintain accurate patient records

• Follow all radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field

Certifications

• ARRT certification in Radiography required

• RRA (Registered Radiologist Assistant) or PA with radiology focus preferred

• BLS required; ACLS preferred

• Must meet New York State licensure requirements
