Radiologic Technologist position in Rural Southwest Nebraska
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Reports To: Radiology Manager
Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing x-ray examinations, ensuring patient safety
and comfort, and using radiology equipment safely. The technologist will also assist with maintaining
department cleanliness, handling images and reports, and ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols.
Nature and Scope:
1\. Knowledge: Understanding of anatomy, positioning, physics, radiation safety, and protection.
2\. Radiation Safety: Perform exams with minimal radiation exposure while following appropriate technique charts.
3\. Sterile Procedures: Knowledge of sterile and isolation techniques.
4\. Patient Care: Ability to manage patient anxiety during procedures.
5\. Administrative Tasks: Answer phones, enter data, and assist with statistical reports.
6\. Film Handling: Familiar with the mailing process for films and information.
Principal Responsibilities:
1\. Avoid errors by exercising caution in every aspect of work.
2\. Demonstrate compassion and understanding toward patients, prioritizing their comfort and safety.
3\. Use correct positioning and radiation techniques under the supervision of the Chief Radiologic Technologist.
4\. Comply with hospital policies and procedures and seek help when needed.
5\. Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
6\. Maintain appropriate hygiene, attire, and a positive attitude.
7\. Accept new responsibilities and cooperate with change.
8\. Be punctual and maintain good attendance.
Education:
1\. Graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.
2\. Passed the board examination by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3\. Active registration with ARRT and a valid state license in Nebraska.
Working Conditions:
1\. Work in a controlled, indoor, smoke-free environment.
2\. Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds, with assistance as needed.
3\. Ability to occasionally squat, bend, kneel, and twist.
4\. Potential exposure to infections, hazardous materials, and environmental factors like
temperature and humidity changes.
5\. Good communication skills are required.
