    SENIOR BRIDGE PROJECT ENGINEER / MANAGER - Madison, WI or Appleton, WI

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Senior Bridge Project Engineer/Manager to join our transportation infrastructure team in either our Appleton or Madison, WI office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

     

    Our ideal candidate will have 10+ years of diverse roadway design experience. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Create, build, and grow a bridge engineering department within the Appleton or Madison, WI offices. • Responsible for structural design of bridges and ancillary transportation structures for WisDOT and municipal clients. • Field review of existing bridges designated for replacement or rehabilitation. • Prepare preliminary bridge design and structure survey reports. • Coordinate various project activities with project team including geotechnical investigation, hydrology and hydraulics, environment reports and permitting, survey and roadway design. • Prepares or directs the structural design, specifications, and plans. • Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects. • Day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers. • Communicate project details with clients, agencies and the public. • Mentor, train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel • Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service • Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

    Required Skills

    • Bridge inspection experience a plus. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Familiar with WisDOT Bridge Manual and Facilities Development Manual. • Familiar with AASHTO LRFD design code. • Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD. • Proficient with bridge engineering software, such as Leap Bridge, Eriksson or similar • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. • Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others’ work. • Ability to use sound engineering judgment. • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks. • Travel may be needed on an occasional basis.

    Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET accredited college. • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin (or capable of obtaining within 6 months) • 10 + years of bridge engineering work experience required.
