OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Ram Steelco is investing in this newly-created position in order to develop and grow our business by building/maintaining customer awareness and increasing sales to key customers, with an emphasis on metal processing sales. This objective will be met by making visits to customer sites – this is a “field” position.
This role is the face of Ram Steelco at our customer’s sites. As such, communicating clearly and promptly in both directions between the customer and the Ram Steelco team is a key.

The role requires daily travel throughout the Willamette Valley and occasionally to the Oregon coast. You must be comfortable with an active, self-structured working day and be willing to adapt your schedule to our customer’s schedules.
THE COMPANY:
Ram Steelco is a steel/metal service center focused on delivering superior service to our customer base in the Willamette Valley (approx. 80 mile radius from Salem). Ram Steelco is a well-established, family-owned company with warehousing, processing, and delivery capabilities. Products and services are sold throughout the mid-Willamette Valley to a diverse customer base, including small and large manufacturers, agriculture, construction, government, and others.
We take pride in providing a high level of service to our customer base which allows us to compete with larger national service centers. We are the “locally owned” option.
At present, sales are primarily conducted by phone and email by the inside sales teams at our Salem and Albany locations. A significant number of customers are “walk-ups” to one of the locations. The majority of our business is with long-time customers who we sell to on an open account basis.
Since late 2020, we have been developing an active digital marketing presence with an improved website, ad programs with Google and Facebook, and a monthly e-blast to a large list of current and potential customers.
COMPENSATION:
This is a salaried position with a performance incentive tied to profitable sales growth. Compensation could reach $50,000 to $60,000 annually depending on performance and goal achievement.
A company vehicle will be provided.

This position reports to the Sales & Operations Manager at Ram Steelco.
There are no direct reports to this position. However, to succeed in this role, the candidate must be able to work cooperatively with the entire Ram Steelco organization, particularly with the inside sales department.

Originally founded in 1938 as Salem Steel & Supply, the business operated for many years from a single location in West Salem. The business changed to new ownership in the early 1980’s and was re- named Ram Steel. Over the years, many new inventory items and processing services were added, and the company underwent further expansion with the acquisition of the assets of Steelco in 2006. The companies were combined under the name Ram Steelco, which currently operates with warehouse and processing services at three locations- West Salem, South Salem, and Albany.
