    We are hiring a Director of Media Relations for our client's team in Irvine, CA.

    About the Company:

    Our client markets a portfolio of leading brands and best-in-class products primarily focused on four key therapeutic areas: medical aesthetics, eye care, central nervous system and gastroenterology. As part of their approach to delivering innovation for better patient care, they have built a broad pharmaceutical and device research and development pipeline.

    The Opportunity:

    As the Director of Media Relations, you will be responsible for developing global media relations and executive visibility communications strategies for our client's corporate communications programs. Also, you will assist in setting the strategy for media relations activities including defining trade, business and general media targeting programs, developing press releases and other global media communications materials. As the Director, you will lead the development of key messaging and initial outreach activities to potential media as well as ongoing communications/visits. Working seamlessly with senior leadership and brand PR teams in both the U.S. and Internationally, you will provide external and internal communications counsel regarding proactive and reactive product issues and other related topics. Additionally, you will work on written communication needs for executive leadership.

    You Will Also:

    • Develop overall media strategy, contribute to developing/refining overall positioning and message content and create and implement strategically driven communications programs targeted primarily to media.
    • Write press releases, social media posts, and other collateral materials to support the business. Coordinate news releases with Public Relations team. Provide proofing, fact-checking and editing on variety of Public Relations-related collateral pieces (AP style preferred). Coordinate distribution. Collaborate with Corporate Communications team members on internal distribution of news.
    • Coordinate interaction with media, when appropriate, between the media and senior executives. Lead media-related distribution services to include queue and distribution of press releases, media advisories, pitches and statements, as well as maintenance/strategic assembly of all up-to-date press contacts.
    • Inform and collaborate with Communications team members on a variety of communications initiatives including, but not limited to making certain that web content is accurate and current, corporate overview is updated, and internal stories reflect current news topics.
    • Assemble persuasive, “pitchable” content and story angles to proactively pitch to reporters/editors/producers in appropriate press verticals.
    • Devise news angles to coordinate response to incoming press queries as well as domestic and global editorial calendar opportunities.
    • Conduct high-level research for needed media documents, pitches, and presentations delivered by Medical Aesthetics senior executives. Develop Q&As, message points and preparing senior management for interview opportunities.
    • Coordinate special events and press conferences.
    • Have the ability to travel up to 15% (domestic and international)

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university, and minimum of 10 years of broad-reaching, progressively responsible media relations/marketing experience, preferably with publicly held healthcare companies OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
    • Experience working with or for a healthcare company; incorporates strong business perspective when making decisions
    • Proven track record in media relations
    • Knowledge of Medical Aesthetics business preferred
    • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment
