Pay Range: $68,640.00 - $90,000.00
Position Summary
The Ranch Manager will oversee the livestock and land operations of a working ranch. The role requires extensive livestock management experience (primarily cattle, with horses and other animals as needed) and an openness to innovative practices that enhance soil health, carbon storage, and water/nutrient cycles.
The Ranch Manager will be a strong communicator, problem-solver, and team leader, someone with fiscal accountability, organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. They should demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and flexibility while fostering collaboration with staff, interns, scientists, and community partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage Stocker operation on two ranches for health and stocker production (gain).
● Design and implement grazing plans for both ranches, over approximately 85,000 acres.

● Scheduling crews and supplies for receiving, processing, and shipping of stockers
● Detailed record keeping of receiving, processing, health, treatments, death, weighing, and shipping of stockers.
● Supervise staff and oversee daily operations
● Manage and care for livestock
● Maintain and repair buildings, equipment, and fences
● Monitor, maintain, and develop shorterm backup plan for livestock water systems.
● Develop 10 10-month plan for the 2025-26 Stocker season
● Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
● Record keeping: safety compliance, chemical usage, livestock records, water regulations
● Develop and implement policies and procedures
● Maintenance of all ranch vehicles and equipment at a minimum operationally safe standard.
● Ordering and coordination of ranch supplies, meds, vaccines, livestock hay, and supplements.

● Coordination with Hay lessee record of hay production and ranches' share.
● Compliance with PLM requirements
● Coordination with Elk and Pig Hunting Leases.
● Coordination and support to River Partners, and any outside science or contractors.
● Willingness to attend trainings and workshops in-person, online, on the ranches, or remote locations.
● Open to and willing to learn, apply and teach to the crew's new ideas and concepts on ranch land and riparian management, potential enterprises, road construction and maintenance, grazing planning, and livestock handling.
Qualifications:
● Well-versed in land management and the use of livestock to improve land health.
● Able to develop and implement grazing management plans and care for livestock.
● Interested in learning and applying new land management approaches and a rigorous mindset to track results.
● A strong team player who can work effectively with people from very varied backgrounds and operate productively under unconventional ranching environment.
● Capable of communicating, coordinating and juggling multiple priorities.
● Able to communicate effectively with ranchers, co-workers, researchers, customers, and ranch visitors.
● A self-starter who is comfortable working by themselves and enjoys working outside even in inclement weather.
● 5-10 years of ranch management experience.
● Spanish speaking a plus.
