    Range Safety Officer

    Part Time/Full-Time $15.49/hr

    MUST be available SUNDAYS

    Job Summary

    The Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for organizing, conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations for all customers at all times; providing range orientations for new customers; ensuring range operations are maintained at the highest standards.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain a safe shooting environment on all ranges by ensuring safe firearms handling practices and compliance with RTSP range rules

    • Monitor all activity on the shooting lanes at all times

    • Assist customers with appropriate lane and target operation

    • Frequently maintain the range floors to be free of fired brass casings

    • Provide instruction to new shooters (basic fundamentals of Firearm safety)

    • Clear simple jams and alert gunsmith for all other concerns

    • Know and follow emergency response plans when required

    • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner

    • Promote firearms training through the RTSP Training Division

    • Be familiar with RTSP products and services

    • Maintain the operation and cleanliness of the range following all SOP guidelines

    • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance at all times

    • Adhere to RTSP policies at all times

    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

    REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience as a Range Safety Officer preferred but not required

    • High School diploma or equivalent

    • Must have a valid Firearm's Identification Card

    • Must provide own handgun

    • All RSOs will be NRA Certified

    • General firearms knowledge required

    • Must pass background check

    • Complete a bi-annual shooting qualification

    • American Red Cross CPR/AED certification a plus

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Annual hearing test required

    • Baseline lead test highly recommended but not required

    • Must be 21 years or older

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
    • Regularly required to talk or hear
    • Regularly required to use hands
    • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms
    • Regularly required to bend
    • Occasionally required to lift objects greater than 20 pounds
    • Regularly required to operate heavy equipment
    • Regularly exposed to lead
    • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust or focus
    • The noise level in the work environment usually is high
