  • Responsibilities

    The Logistics Purchasing Specialist will coordinate all shipping activities, including small package and LTL/FT semi shipments, freight charge disputes, overage/shortage/damage, and filing claims. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining freight shipping quotes, order processing, and customer issue resolution. This role is also responsible for general purchasing/buyer functions such as MRO products, including packaging materials and supplies. Responsibilities: These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. • Provide freight quotations, receive orders, and assign shipments to appropriate carriers • Demonstrate functional knowledge of logistics and company products to drive informed decisions on optimal shipping methods • Schedule inbound/outbound shipments ensuring delivery to deadlines and mitigating risk • Effectively utilize the ERP system to generate the business required scheduling, routing, and documentation to fulfill order shipment • Reconcile and report on discrepancies in quoted versus invoiced shipping rates • Collaborate, coordinate and assist Warehouse staff on shipping schedule needs/issues • Assist customers and customer service representatives with order status inquiries (delivery dates/loss/damaged freight) and related needs • Provide valuable input to management on the continuous improvement in logistics performance, including carrier partnering and cost controls • Support Customer Service as required and perform other related duties as assigned • Perform daily purchasing activities (PO placement, acknowledgments, tracking, and reconciliation) • Address daily materials issues and communication on stock-outs • Track and follow up on urgent or past due purchase orders; communicate risks and actions to management • Expedite inventory and warehouse materials to ensure successful fulfillment of customer orders Qualifications: REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and effectively meet deadlines EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Associate’s Degree and 2 years of Logistics or Purchasing experience OR 4 years of Logistics or Purchasing experience required • Functional knowledge of Business Central ERP systems or similar ERP systems is required • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times Compensation: $19 - $26 hourly
