    Job Description

    Ratia Construction is seeking a Project Coordinator or Project Manager to join a rapidly growing, well established residential remodeling and general construction business. This salaried position pays between $52,000 - $62,400 (depending on experience level and skill set).

    Ratia Construction primarily works with recognized interior design and architectural firms on a wide variety of projects in Chicago and throughout the greater Chicago area. We have developed a strong customer-base and following. Our projects are sourced mainly by word of mouth.     Responsibilities:

    • Attend on-site walkthroughs and collaborate with designers, architects, sub-contractors, vendors, and clients during bidding, planning, and execution phases of various construction projects.

    • Break down draftings (interior, architectural, structural) for estimates, task lists, and scheduling.

    • Preparing estimates (Excel based), inclusive of going out to trades persons and materials vendors for pricing, composing the full estimate and reviewing such with the Owner and clients/designers for approval.

    • Review and communicate changes/adjustments to be made for custom work (i.e.: cabinetry, metalwork, stone).

    • Ensure proper documentation is maintained per project—inclusive of client contracts, purchase orders, COIs, and permits (prior permitting experience not required).

    • Source, purchase, and inventory project materials.

    • Monitor deadlines and budget inclusive of producing change orders for clients and key stakeholders.

    • Correspond through email, phone, and in-person with our in-house team, clients, designers/architects, and tradespeople involved with each project.

    • Additional responsibilities include assisting clients with procuring decorative material and fixtures and managing overall project during construction, inclusive of on-site visits and client meetings to review project status and participate in problem solving.

    • Candidates who have interior design experience and/or SketchUp/AutoCAD skills have the potential to earn compensation at the higher end of the salary range with opportunity for additional compensation growth over time.

    Requirements:

    • 1-2 years of experience reading architectural draftings and/or shop drawings.

    • Fundamental, non-practitioner understanding of various trades work (i.e.: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, rough/finish carpentry) as they relate to building estimates, statements of work and executing projects.

    • Basic to intermediate competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the willingness to learn new applications (QuickBooks, project management software).

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to propose creative solutions to everyday obstacles.

    • A “can do” attitude and ability to work well in teams as well as independently.

    • Design and/or relevant trades experience is a plus.

    • Language skills: Spanish, Czech, and/or Polish is a plus.

    • Accessibility to a vehicle for traveling to and from project-sites and the office is a plus (Owner will reimburse for mileage and parking).
