A LifeSharing Provider will share their heart and home with an individual with developmental disabilities.

LifeSharing is a service available for adults with intellectual disabilities. A host family provides daily support in their home and assists an individual with a variety of needs. Each individual has a support team to ensure that all needs are being met. Anyone can be a LifeSharing provider. Singles, companions, married couples, birth families, relatives and legal guardians are all able to provide this service. There are many benefits to being a LifeSharing provider including the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life, finding a new friend and companion, supporting the LifeSharing community, and receiving a generous stipend. There are also options for substitute care when necessary.

Basic requirements including the following: valid PA driver's license with good driving record, current physical with tuberculosis test, and PA criminal clearances.

Our LifeSharing Providers are contracted with Raystown Developmental Services but are not employed with us.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide individuals with a safe, nurturing, healthy environment.

Assist individuals with daily living skills.

Help improve their relationships with family and friends.

Assist individuals with daily life decisions.

Support individuals in the acquisition of new skills.

Attend required trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Have a separate bedroom for the individual.

Meet state requirements for health and safety of the person being placed.

Criminal clearances and physicals for all persons living in the household.

Minimum of 24 hours pre-service training and annual trainings.
