Raystown Developmental Services (RDS) has been serving the counties of Huntingdon, Mifflin, and Juniata since 1983.
Raystown Developmental Services - Family Services Program in Juniata County is currently accepting applications from enthusiastic individuals with a desire to help children and families in their community. Staff works independently in the homes of families receiving services from the child welfare system. Positions all require strong interpersonal skills and a human services background; experience working with children and youth is a plus.
SUMMARY:
The individual in this position functions as a Caseworker in the Family Reunification Program. This position assists in reuniting families following an out-of-home placement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate and maintain contact with families who are to receive services by making contact within 24 hours of referral and contacting them face to face, and in the home at least twice per week for the length of time of the agreed-upon service (unless otherwise directed upon by the funding source); including non-scheduled face to face contacts.
Accompanying families to child's doctor appointments; completing monthly foster home visits and observations.
Working with families to develop Family Services Case Plans following the completion of assessments within one month after being assigned a family. Complete closing summaries within one month of completing services and provide a copy of the closing summary to the referral source.
Overseeing visits by preparing for the visits in advance with the family as needed in the family's home, if the child's safety cannot be assured then visits are conducted in the community or visitation room at RDS or at the agency office.
Prepare and complete required documentation; including case notes and reports, in compliance with regulations, company standards, and the policy and procedure manual.
Be available and prepared to provide court testimony in a professional manner as scheduled. Maintain contact with interested parties (lawyers, judges) as necessary
Provide monthly written updates to referral source. Attend and participate in monthly case review meetings. Weekly contact with funding source via emails and phone calls
Complete case notes of interaction with family within the time frame based on casenote policy
Effectively communicate with supervisors I managers, individuals, family members and other service providers
Provide services to families as requested by funding source. For example, drug testing, home maker services, transportation, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

TRAVEL
This position requires an extensive amount of travel throughout northeast and/or central Pennsylvania, primarily in Juniata County and surrounding areas.
Position requires a valid Pennsylvania license.
Position requires staff to drive and transport clients in both agency owned and personal vehicles.
Properly load and unload individuals to/from vehicles.
Follow vehicle safety guidelines, as defined by state regulation and company policy, at all times.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Minimum Associate’s Degree in a Human Service related field
Minimum Associate’s Degree in a non-related field with minimum 2 years experience in Human Service related field
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or
Bachelor’s Degree in unrelated field with minimum 12 credits in a Human Service related course; i.e., psychology, sociology, counseling, etc.
1 year related experience/training in working with children and families

QUALIFICATIONS
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and instructions. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to clearly explain instructions in both written and oral media.
Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematic ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Use of MS Excel to aid in mathematical work.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to read instructional bulletins and/or participate in training sessions then translate information provided into day-to-day work duties.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Recognizes problems and provides feedback or documentation to assist with problem resolution.
Clearly and consistently verbally communicates priorities.
