    Job Description

    The Associate Producer is responsible for the successful coordination and execution of a show. The role of the AP is to work with the Producer in preparing the editorial content for the broadcast, assist with the management of different aspects of the production in coordination with internal support areas.

    Job Duties:

    • Assist in all aspects of production and ensure that all information is sound and accurate while finding innovative ways to execute productions.
    • Required to be in the control room and have complete knowledge of the control room environment.
    • Responsible for producing breves and promos needed for broadcast and digital platforms.
    • Assist in the creation of headlines as well as any other content that is needed.
    • Coordinate specific production needs for broadcasts, including editing and control room areas, technical production, and graphic departments.
    • Assist in scripts (including writing) and the editing of a story.
    • Verify sponsored elements and traffic instructions leading up to the broadcast.
    • Coordinate with Director and technical production to assure that production elements are built and ready for air.
    • Prepare original editorial content for the show, including but not limited to selecting sound bites and footage for a piece. Prepare research for stories or segments as needed.
    • Prepare and fact-check all show graphics and segments.
    • Field Produce stories and remote productions; assist with live shots as needed.
    • Attain a complete knowledge of all show elements; how they work and how they are applied within the various shows.
    • Provide story ideas and offer suggestions to improve broadcasts on a regular basis.
    • Prepare scripts and materials for cross-promotional purposes and for use by digital media department and network affiliates.
    • Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Producer and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent work experience

    • Three years Control Room (live & taped programs) experience required with an emphasis in graphics and segments producing.

    • A solid knowledge of news and entertainment content

    • General computer skills: Microsoft Office, iNews and Avid MediaCentral

    • Solid editing, writing and production principals.

    • Fluent bilingual English/Spanish written, and verbal communication skills are essential.

    • Must be able to work a non-conventional work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    • Demonstrated organizational skills. Able to work effectively in a high-pressure environment without direct supervision.

    Additional Job Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends
    • Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment
    • Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area
    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Must have a valid driver's license
    • Must have a valid passport for travel.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

    • Ability to multi-task and follow directions from various members of the team.
    • Ability to communicate in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
    • Must be able to represent the department and company in a professional and ethical manner always.
    • Familiar with production/editing software tools, equipment and formats.
