Roles and Responsibilities:

• Own the frontend development of our React Native app, with occasional full-stack contributions.

• Work directly with our designer to implement a full app redesign, shipping fast and iterating based on feedback.

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and head engineer to align technical decisions with product goals.

• Join a tight, fast, low-bureaucracy dev loop, quickly deploying and improving features for a large user base.

• Operate independently and confidently, driving projects from concept to deployment.

• Be our first in-person engineer, leading the frontend while interfacing with a remote dev team.

Job Requirements:

• 5–10 years of professional software engineering experience, including time spent building React Native or mobile apps.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React Native. Comfortable shipping polished mobile products.

• History of working in startup or small team environments, with high ownership and velocity.

• Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English.

• Able to demonstrate technical excellence—via a shipped app, website, GitHub repo, or similar.

• Willing and able to work in-person at our SF Mission District office at least 4 days/week.

• A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, unstructured environments and learns independently.

• Passionate about building useful tools that empower everyday people—especially gig workers.
