Collections & Estate Planning Attorney
Our trusted attorney will ideally wear two hats, serving as a trusted counselor on both debt collection, and estate planning matters. They will utilize their legal expertise to help navigate the often-complex world of debt recovery. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of legal knowledge, client service skills, and a strategic mind for achieving optimal outcomes in both practice areas. Responsibilities: • Supervise administrative staff, paralegals, and law clerks • Represent businesses and individuals in recovering owed rental debts • Develop effective collection strategies and negotiate settlements with debtors • Draft and file collection letters, lawsuits, and other legal documents • Represent clients in court proceedings related to debt collection • Ensure all collection activities comply with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulations • Analyze financial records and assets to locate collectable funds • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents • Advise clients on tax implications, asset protection strategies, and beneficiary designations • Guide clients through the probate process (if necessary) • Stay up-to-date on changes in estate and tax laws to ensure clients receive optimal planning Qualifications: • Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school • Passed the bar exam in the state where they will practice • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in collections law and/or estate planning • Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to debt collection (FDCPA) and preferably estate planning (wills, trusts, probate) • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills • Superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively explain complex legal matters to clients • Ability to build strong client relationships and navigate sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism • Proficient in legal research and case management software • Ability to maintain a heavy caseload Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 DOE per year
