Real Estate Controller for Award-Winning Local Company At HomeBuyers of Pittsburgh, we've helped over 1,100 local families sell their homes with speed, trust, and care. Since 2015, we’ve won multiple local and national awards along the way while keeping the customer experience at the heart of everything we do. At our brokerage, RealtyCo, we're redefining what it means to be a real estate agent. Our people get the tools, training, and culture to close more deals, earn more income, and love the work they do. On the investment side, we've built a 300+ door rental portfolio with our own construction and property management teams renovating and maintaining every one of them. We're on our way to 500. Together, we're building brands that are shaking up the Pittsburgh market, and we're just getting started. Our mission is simple: help people win in real estate — whether that's selling a house, building an investment portfolio, or launching a successful career. But just as important as what we do is how we do it. We live our values every day: Believe in Yourself, Your Team, and the Process Over-Deliver for Our Customers Be a Problem Solver, Take Initiative No Bad Attitudes, Good Vibes Only Collaboration Over Competition Keep Learning and Improving Always Do the Right Thing We're now hiring a Controller to take our financial operation to the next level. The foundation is built. Our systems are in place, our processes are documented, and our books are clean. What we need is someone to run them sharper and faster as we push past 300 rental doors on our way to 500. This is a high-leverage seat. You'll own the close across every company we operate, deepen the reporting our leaders actually make decisions with, and raise financial awareness across every department. You'll have direct access to ownership, a real playbook to build on, and a clear runway to Director of Finance as we scale. If you've spent your career closing books for other people's companies, or you're the strongest accountant in a department where the next seat isn't opening any time soon - then this is your jump. When you apply to join our team , you will be asked to complete a short Google Form to help us get to know you better as well as submit a 1-3 minute introduction video telling us more about yourself, your experience, and why you'd be excited to join the company. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Responsibilities: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across five companies — acquisitions, construction, property management, our rental portfolio, and the brokerage. Reconcile roughly 40 bank and lender accounts monthly and deliver clean financials — P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow — inside a tight close window. Build the cash forecasting and scenario modeling behind our acquisition, refinance, and construction draw decisions. Oversee accounts payable with a two-step review and approval process across vendor and subcontractor spend. Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and eliminations, and oversee bi-weekly payroll for our office team and construction crews. Prepare lender packages, refinance documentation, and portfolio reporting, and coordinate year-end with our outside CPA. Partner with department leaders on budgets, job costing, and scorecards — and make the numbers make sense to non-finance people. Qualifications: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with full ownership of the close. Multi-entity experience — consolidations, intercompany, allocations. You've done it, not just seen it. Strong QuickBooks Online skills across multiple company files, plus advanced Excel — modeling and forecasting, not just pivot tables. Real estate, construction, or property management accounting background strongly preferred — job costing, WIP, retainage, or lien waivers a big plus, and AppFolio or similar is a bonus. CPA welcome, not required — we care more about what you've built than what's on your wall. Hands-on and self-directed — you're comfortable in the books, and you don't need hand-holding. Energized by scale — you want to take a solid system further, not just keep it running. Compensation: $105,000 - $140,000 yearly
