Job Description

We are looking for a front-end developer to help optimize and evolve News & Insights, our best-in-class, WordPress-based content publishing site within realtor.com. We have up to 10 million readers each month consuming our stories on housing trends and celebrity and unique homes, and reported advice stories on buying, selling, and owning homes. Our goal is to increase traffic and engagement, enhance user experiences, and innovate ways to attract more people at all stages of the home journey to realtor.com.

Your primary focus will be implementation and improvements of front-facing code, maximizing user experience on mobile and desktop, as well as working with a back-end developer to deliver pertinent and customized content to site users. A/B and multivariate testing, metrics on current traffic performance, as well as cross-browser analysis will provide daily learning opportunities for yourself and your co-workers. You will be part of a small, high-performing, and connected team within a growing company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Primary focus: Front-end and UX development and optimization of a high-traffic, WordPress-based news site UI implementation / strategy
• Development of A/B and multivariate testing protocols for article headlines, images, CTAs, and other assets
• Work with SEO team to identify and implement technical fixes
• Devise, test, and implement ways to integrate News & Insights into the core realtor.com experience
• Test strategies for increasing time on site, reducing bounce, and increasing article-to-article consumption
• Testing and development of reminders, pop-ups, and other notifications to increase user engagement
• Analyze and optimize video delivery and usage
• Ongoing analysis and reporting on current traffic and suggestions for improvements
• Cross-browser testing and refinements
• Work with dedicated back-end developer to iterate on site design and engineer new consumer-facing products, including suite of CMS-enabled advice guides
• Improve performance of the realtor.com economics portal

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

• 3 to 5 years (minimum) experience in content engineering and development
• Hands-on experience working with online publishing platforms essential. Experience working at a content site or in a newsroom environment preferred.
• Deep understanding of WordPress functionality and customizability
• Cutting-edge and finely honed front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
• Experience in "mobile first" development
• Engaging portfolio showcasing experience with high-traffic, WordPress-based news / content publishing properties
• Positive, communicative, and team-based work style
