Job Description: Receiving Clerk
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Receiving Clerk to join our team at Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods. In this vital role, you will oversee and document the receipt and review of inventory delivered to our spice production facility. You will be responsible for managing activities at the receiving dock, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately logged and inspected. Additionally, you will provide support to the purchasing department by filling in for the Buyer during their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management : Oversee the receipt of all incoming inventory, ensuring accuracy in counts and quality. Maintain detailed records of received goods and discrepancies.
- Documentation : Prepare and maintain documentation for incoming shipments, including purchase orders, delivery notes, and inspection forms. Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted to the appropriate departments.
- Quality Control : Inspect delivered products for quality and compliance with company standards. Report any issues or discrepancies to management immediately.
- Receiving Dock Operations : Engage in the daily activities of the receiving dock, coordinating with delivery personnel and warehouse staff to ensure efficient unloading and storage of products.
- Communication : Collaborate with suppliers, drivers, and internal teams regarding delivery schedules and inventory needs. Provide updates and communication regarding receipt of goods to the purchasing department.
- Buyer Support : Assist the Buyer with inventory sourcing and procurement activities as needed. Fill in for the Buyer when they are unavailable, including coordinating orders and managing supplier communications.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies within the receiving area. Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.
Qualifications:
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in supply chain management or a related field is a plus.
- Experience : Prior experience in a receiving or inventory management role, preferably in food production or manufacturing.
- Skills :
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Proficient in basic math and inventory management systems.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks as required for inventory handling.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, including exposure to various warehouse conditions, including air-borne seasoning.
