About Alma

Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school whose mission is to put every one of our scholars on the path to college and to challenge them to be service-minded leaders. We do this by immersing our scholars in a highly demanding, highly supportive environment where they receive a content–rich education. As an Expeditionary Learning school, Alma brings to life a three dimensional vision of student achievement that includes mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality student work.

We're located in New Bedford, Massachusetts a beautiful coastal city known for its history as the heart of the whaling industry and as a central hub of the abolitionist movement.

Alma gets results for kids. Alma scholars not only outperform their district peers on MCAS, they often outperform their peers in the surrounding suburbs. In some areas, our scholar achievement now matches some of the highest performing schools in the Commonwealth. We have been nationally recognized for our work with English Language Learners.

The Receptionist Role

The Receptionist is an integral part of our crew because they are often the first person who our families interact with when they walk through our doors. Our receptionist is the friendly face of the school. The receptionist works closely with the Office Manager and the Dean of Operations. Duties include but are not limited to:

* Warmly welcome families into the school
* Manage front desk adult sign in log
* Manage front desk scholar sign in log, including tardies and dismissals
* Answer phone calls and take messages for staff
* Schedules meetings between families and staff including at high volume times like family conferences and enrollment meetings. 
* Supports with set up and break down of school events like family conferences, professional development, and graduation ceremonies
* Adapt to tackle other day to day challenges in a fast paced environment
* Maintain professional customer service during high volume and sometimes stressful situations

Who We're Looking For

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required (ability to read, write, speak)
• Proficient in email and digital calendars
• Ability to problem solve independently and collaboratively
• Flexible and adapts to new technologies and initiatives
• Well organized and detail oriented

Compensation: This position is paid hourly and eligible for overtime. Starting hourly rate ranges from $20 - $24 per hour, based on prior experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package.
