    Group Facilitator Job Description

    POSITION: Group Facilitator

    RESPONSIBLE TO: Clinical Director

    SUPERVISED BY: Clinical Director

    POSITION/INDIVIDUALS SUPERVISED: None

    INTERRELATIONSHIPS: Maintains open communication lines with corporate staff, center staff, attending clinicians and physicians, clients, and families. Liaisons with the client’s family members, significant others, community agencies, payers of health services, and others, as assigned by the Clinical Director.

    STATUS:

    POSITION PURPOSE:

    The Group Therapist is responsible for providing group therapy.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

    1. EDUCATION: Preferably graduation from an accredited college or university with a health-related degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    2. EXPERIENCE: Preferably a minimum of 2 years experience with chemical dependency and/or dual-diagnosed clients, preferably in an in-patient setting.

    3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Preferably Licensed, registered, and/or actively working towards certification to practice clinical discipline, if applicable.

    4. SKILLS /ABILITIES: Knowledge of principles and practices of the discipline. Adheres to: the Healthcare Code of Ethics. Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards. Federal and State Regulations. Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal and in Written Communication Skills. Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding: Client Confidentiality Drug-Free Workplace Workplace Violence Prevention Corporate Integrity & Compliance

    5. AGE-SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS SERVED/

    RESPONSIBILITY: Adults

    1. SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION: Direct supervision is provided by the Clinical Director on a weekly basis, and as needed daily.

    SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

    1. Demonstrates knowledge of chemical dependency and addictions and utilizes knowledge and skills to

    access and meet the client’s treatment needs and requirements.

    1. Documents as required in the client chart.

    2. Conducts process groups, educational, chemical dependency, and other groups as assigned.

    3. Ability to work as a team member, demonstrating maturity under stress and objectivity.

    4. Demonstrates good communication skills.

    5. Performs in a professional manner and role models a positive image of substance abuse.

    6. Reports abuse of clients’ rights immediately.

    7. Participates in obtaining the client’s informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as

    appropriate.

    1. Acts decisively and effectively in managing staff, clients, and other employees during emergencies.

    2. Performs other capacities as needed.
