Summary/Objective With support and direction from the medical staff manager, the medical coordinator assists the medical providers with patient needs such as the facilitation of prescribed narcotics and prescriptions, as well as working with insurance companies, while maintaining facility policies and procedures. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Assist medical providers with patient needs 2. Diligently track medications and medication orders in accordance with all regulatory agencies and federal and state laws. 3. Obtain prior authorizations with patient insurance providers. 4. Maintain communication with patient insurance providers to stay on top of and troubleshoot potential issues. 5. Work with pharmacies and pharmacists to maintain necessary medication supplies and correct prescriptions. 6. Attend treatment teams weekly with clinical staff to provide pertinent information on patients and from medical providers. 7. Be the liaison between patients, medical providers, clinical staff, and resident coordinators. 8. Assist with training new medical coordinators. 9. Facilitate medication times. 10. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands The employee is occasionally required to sit; stand; and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to drive a vehicle. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is either a full-time or part-time position, to be designated by supervisor upon offer of employment. This can change based on the needs of the company and/or desires of the employee. The expected hours are also set by the supervisor on the first day of work and can be subject to change. All facilities are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Travel No travel is required for this position.
