    Generations Home Care LLC - Recreational Therapist

    The Recreational Therapist is an essential part of the Independence Program (IP) team reporting directly to Generations Home Care LLC, as well as the Independence Program Case Manager. More than one Veteran Warrior may be assigned to a Recreational Therapist if availability allows for adequate scheduling for the Veterans and their therapist. The male warrior we are hiring for needs a MALE Recreational Therapist to provide approximately 20 hours per month of support services. We provide training, supervision by Neuro Case Management and offer on-going professional enhancement educational webinars.

    This is a community-based position working with Veterans who have brain injuries, PTSD, neurological disabilities and other cognitive or physical challenges. The Recreational Therapist will use recreational activities to help male warrior improve his physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Therapist will work in various settings, designing and implementing treatment plans, assessing patients, and collaborating with Generations Home Care LLC and Neuro Community Care Case Manager. This is a PART-TIME and PRN position and candidates must have at least 2 years of proven Recreational Therapist experience.

    Job Responsibilities

    Based on the established goals of an individualized Care Plan provides Veteran Warriors functional supports to achieve set goals.

    Identifies barriers, triggers, or challenges in functional status in order to develop proactive interventions that promote continued independence.

    Educates Veteran Warriors on how to develop necessary problem-solving skills and strategies solution driven role.

    Provides positive support and be an advocate for the Veteran Warrior.

    Provides assistance and guidance with identifying choices and making informed decisions that involve their activities and life.

    Assists Veteran Warrior with improving community living and integration skills in a variety of settings such as shopping, church attendance, sporting events, recreation, club participation, classroom support, volunteer/employment support, etc.

    Serves as a role model/mentor and maintains good communication/relationships with the Veteran Warrior, their families and referral sources.

    Qualifications

    Experience working with an individual professionally and/or a loved-one with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder a Plus!

    2 years experience as a Recreational Therapist

    Understanding of military culture or Veteran - preferred.

    Retired/Semi retired male preferred

    Behavioral health experience preferred.

    Mentoring, coaching or training experience.

    Outstanding organizational skills.

    Proven experience working in a collaborative environment.

    Caring, compassionate and have a high level of patience.
