    We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant for a large publicly traded financial services/real estate firm located in Pasadena, CA.  The incumbent will be a skilled individual who is highly detail-oriented, works well in a team oriented environment, and proficient in tax accounting and US GAAP Accounting. The firm is a dynamic and high-paced environment that requires an individual who works well independently, efficiently, and is self-motivated.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Senior Tax Accountant will assist the Tax Manager and Tax Supervisor with tax compliance and tax planning. Job duties include the following:

    • Assist with planning the tax compliance process
    • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting documentation for the firm's international holdings in Canada and China. Tax compliance includes over 34 US federal and state returns, 105+ foreign disclosure returns, and over 30 domestic joint venture returns
    • Prepare quarterly E&P tax projections
    • Prepare quarterly REIT tests
    • Prepare quarterly FAS 109 (ASC 740) tax provision schedules. This includes quarterly tax provisional work and its holdings in the US, Canada, and China. Work entails preparation of quarterly memo and tax footnote for the Company’s 10Q/10K SEC filing
    • Assist with international tax compliance and domestic tax research and planning as requested
    • Prepare or review tax basis ledgers
    • Prepare tax basis analyses for real estate transactions such as acquisitions and dispositions
    • Participate in ad-hoc projects, which could include drafting of tax policies and procedures, determining tax processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, maintenance of tax files, developing systems or tools for managing workflow, and implementation of departmental goals and global initiatives

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • CPA or LLM highly preferred; MBT or progression toward an MBT is a plus
    • Minimum 2 years of Tax experience required; partnership tax experience, tax provision and International tax experience a plus
    • Public Accounting experience is highly preferred
    • Public commercial real estate experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of US GAAP Accounting
    • Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
    • Strong tax research skills a plus
    • Experience in preparation of partnership and corporate returns, foreign disclosure experience a plus
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to prioritize, multi-task, work with others and independently, and meet deadlines
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • JD Edwards Accounting software experience desirable
