    Major entertainment studio is hiring for a Senior Financial Analyst for their TV Non-fiction division. This is a great opportunity to be involved with full cycle TV projects from development to exhibition, plus various ad hoc analysis. Ideal candidate 2+years public accounting or media/entertainment industry experience. This is a non exempt role with paid overtime plus annual bonus. Total compensation up to $120s+/-.

    The Senior Financial Analyst will work out of the Van Nuys office and report to the Corporate Controller. He/she will be responsible for handling all GAAP accounting and finance aspects for multiple TV production divisions. This position will be responsible for administering aspects of the accounting function including period end close processes, financial analysis, budgeting and other duties as assigned. A successful Sr Financial Analyst combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports. The selected candidate will be hard-working, independent, and a quick learner.

    Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
    • Prepare divisional financial statements and supporting schedules monthly.
    • Provide budget-to-actual and prior year-to-actual analysis with commentary.
    • Create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
    • Liaise with staff and business partners to obtain any needed information.
    • Liaise with TV production finance teams to ensure accuracy of data.
    • Update cash flow forecast monthly.
    • Prepare journal entries.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including resolution of discrepancies.
    • Calculate profit participations and producer and talent fees.
    • Play a key role in the transition to SAP from our current accounting system Great Plains.
    • Other duties / special projects as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
    • Public accounting experience preferred; CPA preferred
    • 2-5 year of total accounting experience
    • Ability and desire to learn and grow in the role
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including analyzing and interpreting contracts
    • Ability to interpret contract clauses as they relate to profit participations, royalties, and other key payment terms
    • Ability to work independently while also being an active team member
    • Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with other functional areas within the organization and with external clients
    • Ability to manage multiple, deadline-driven assignments
    • Ability to work efficiently and proactively, with excellent attention to detail
    • Strong Office and Excel skills (very comfortable with pivots, complex formulas, etc.)
    • Experience using SAP and Great Plains accounting software a plus
