We are recruiting for a hands-on and detail oriented Assistant Controller for a reputable growing aerospace company located near Orange County, CA.  This is a very high profile position, demanding interaction with all departments and levels of employees to provide leadership and management of financial activities in support of Company objectives.

Overview of Essential Functions (responsibilities but not limited to the following):

• Develop assessments and business analysis to identify areas to improve business performance.
• Assist and perform various cost accounting activities to ensure the ongoing accuracy of product cost information. Perform variance analysis and identify improvement opportunities. Direct and develop the Senior cost accountant.
• Prepare, lead & review monthly closing activities as well as financial reporting for both internal management team and corporate. Prepare and/or review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations.
• Provide analytic support for quarterly business performance results to Corporate
• Lead monthly review on critical business metrics and lead cross functional team to develop and monitor both short term and long term action items.
• Directs and oversees Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable and ensure Company metrics are maintained.
• Prepare quarterly sales tax return and other similar returns due to regulatory agencies.
• Monitors business processes for compliance with internal control procedures and SOX
• Lead all internal/external audits
• Identifiy and lead ERP functionality improvements efforts. Develop and validates system tests
• Lead and Manage customer audit and/or government CAS Audit.
• Responsible for the training, development of all Finance department personnel. Also evaluates the workload and streamlines processes.
• Performs other projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance a must.
• 7-12 years of combined accounting experience. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as plant controller or cost manager in a standard cost manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
• Must have technical skills and experience in financial reporting for a publicly traded global company.
• Experience working for a large public accounting firm is preferred.
