    Reputable global consumer products company in San Fernando Valley is looking for a strong Senior Accountant-Operations Accounting.

    Primary responsibilities of this position:

    • Ensure timely and accurate accounting for metal and freight related activities throughout the month end close cycle, including but not limited to metal price variance analysis, freight processing, vouchering of metal receipts (including outside processors) and processing of vendor claims.
    • Providing support to assigned plant controllers, enforcing proper accounting policies and procedures, analyzing plant financial reports and investigating variances if necessary.
    • Support monthly bridge analysis/comments for operation results and assist with monthly forecast, quarterly BOD slides and annual budget.
    • The position also handles ad hoc cost accounting assignments and projects.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Process all claims, generate monthly associated reporting schedules and monitor the collection progress
    • Prepare price variance related journal entries, including but not limited to price adjustment, rebate, tariff, monthly true up and account reconciliation etc.
    • Work with vendors to reconcile any discrepancies between the amount paid and the amounts expected.
    • Enter receipts for all outside processors
    • Perform month-end freight processing procedures and investigate any discrepancies if any
    • Work with plants to ensure accuracy of freight charges and reconcile freight accrual balance
    • Set up standard costs as requested by plants or production planning
    • Plant Controller Support
      • Month End Close: Post and review assigned plant journal entries and inventory transactions. Review assigned plant financial statements including income statements, indirect operating costs, and manufacturing variances. Troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing accounting, inventory reconciliations, purchasing, production, sales, expenses and liabilities.
      • Analysis: Book to physicals inventory, sales margin reports, material price variances, inventory adjustments, steel scrap income, manufacturing variances, and other significant flux items.
      • Budgets: Prepare and support the annual budget process. Key area will be purchase price variances.
      • Liaison Role: Liaison between manufacturing plant controllers, corporate office, internal and external auditors, other inter-departments, and outside processors.

     

    Qualifications

    • BA or BS in Accounting required
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing or consumer goods industry
    • Preferred 5 years’ experience or more in accounting
    • Knowledge of manufacturing, cost and general accounting concepts and principles
    • Good organization, follow up, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong MS Excel skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite
    • Experience with various software packages, JDEdwards preferable
    • Highly time-disciplined and detail-oriented
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member
