    National publicly traded commercial real estate investment firm is hiring an interim-to-hire Director of Security Operations for their Seattle and New York offices. Both roles will be in-house immediately versus remote. Must have security operations, infrastructure and staff management experience, plus business continuity/emergency plan adoption. As this is an extremely high visibility role(s), candidates must have excellent communication both oral and written.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Security Operations

    • Provide strategic regional oversight of security operations, infrastructure, technology and personnel
    • Conduct planning and implementation of physical security systems
    • Develop strategic plans and countermeasures to mitigate against criminal threats
    • Safeguard personnel, property, and proprietary information by developing effective security protocols, procedures, and operations
    • Prepare security briefings and written reports to leadership personnel as required
    • Collect criminal intelligence from open source and law enforcement resources
    • Prepare intelligence products, incident reports, and threat analysis
    • Prepare security escalation plans and ensure security staff are prepared to execute
    • Perform predictive assessments and recommend preemptive strategies to deter, detect, and respond to criminal threats
    • Develop regional security priorities and ensure they are met and surpassed
    • Develop relationships with neighboring security directors, law enforcement, emergency services, and participate in security industry networking, education and events
    • Be a liaison and security resource to tenants regarding site security issues
    • Be a liaison to local precincts and other city agencies to promote cooperation in resolving site security issues
    • Be proficient and stay abreast of security technology, including CCTV cameras, card access, and visitor management systems
    • Develop and oversee the annual security budget of multiple properties and manage operations within that budget
    • Provide consulting support and make recommendations to management regarding appropriate, timely and necessary replacements or enhancements to existing assets, new developments, and acquired assets

    Security Staff Management

    • Oversee security vendor to ensure compliance with terms of contract, to include billing oversite and invoice audits
    • Supervise site vendor security managers to ensure security violations and incidents are observed, investigated, resolved, and reported
    • Supervise site vendor security managers to ensure continuous development and growth of security operations
    • Supervise site vendor security managers to ensure staff appearance, training, and conduct
    • Supervise quality control of security operations and ensure security incidents are handled in a comprehensive, diligent, and timely manner
    • Ensure operational readiness of security staff
    • Develop competitive bid, standard requirements, and analysis to review and change security vendors when required
    • Develop relationships with facility representatives through customer service and relationship building
    • Supervise professional development of vendor security staff

    Emergency Management and Business Continuity

    • Develop and deliver Emergency Action Plans
    • Assist with the policies and management of the national Emergency Management Program
    • Become proficient with the national Emergency Notification Platform
    • Utilize contemporary Business Continuity principles to review and improve upon national readiness
    • Advise the company as needed on security-related policies, procedures, emergencies, and infrastructure matters
    • Conduct emergency action drills and training

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum of 8 years of proven and documented success in public safety and security, preferably as a sworn law enforcement officer or special agent, with direct and practical private-sector experience in corporate site security
    • Experience with life science and tech properties highly desired
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products, including but not limited to, Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Experience in all aspects of security and emergency management systems, including CCTV cameras, card access and visitor management systems, emergency communication systems, fire/life safety training and planning, managing a large security staff, emergency preparedness and response, business continuity, and tenant training and customer service
    • Exceptional communication and people skills required
    • Enjoyment of all aspects of customer service from development of systems, to delivery of service to service follow-up
    • Outgoing and energetic in community and industry organizations
    • Able to work within a varying and flexible schedule to include obligations outside of regular business hours
    • Experience in coaching and leading a team
    • Knowledge of key liability and legal issues in security management
