For Water Street Mission to fulfill its mission and purpose, it is critical for all staff to participate in the development and maintenance of a healthy Christian Community. Job Summary: Provide direct support to guests in WSHS Recuperative Care (RC) by assisting the manager and nurse team, providing transportation, and social check-ins. Perform basic medical tasks when needed and support guests to meet their health goals. This role would encompass similar duties and responsibilities as a certified medical assistant and community health worker.

FLSA: Full-time, (40 hours) non-exempt, Monday – Friday 11a-730p

All Water Street Mission staff must be:

• · Able to fully support the Water Street Mission's core values and ministry philosophy.
• · Provide orientation of WSM and Recuperative Care services for new guests.
• · Develop rapport and a supportive therapeutic relationship with guests to encourage them to meet their health goals and foster a healing environment.
• · Obtain basic vital signs and assist in triaging next steps regarding medical events when needed.
• · Provide transportation to and from medical and social service appointments.
• · Provide Recuperative Care administrative support.
• · Assist with restocking supplies in Recuperative Care rooms.
• · Deliver meals for guests when needed.
• · Maintain a trauma-informed approach to care and interactions with guests.
• · Collaborate with and support WSM life coach and social services team.
• · Document promptly and appropriately in Salesforce and/or EPIC.
• · Assist with room cleaning, laundry, and trash removal on a regular basis and as needed.
• · Provide “warm-hand off” referrals to other staff (internally or externally) whenever possible.
• · Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Role Specific Responsibilities

Education and Experience: High School graduate/GED or equivalent training and/or experience for job responsibilities desired. Driving license required. Experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or substance use strongly preferred. Ease of speaking to others and building rapport. Strong computer skills. Certified medical assistant or similar training preferred. Spanish-speaking is preferred.
