    Being a Director of Culture & People at Red Velvet Events (RVE) is more than just being a part of the RVE Leadership Team. Your primary role is to manage our diverse back-of-house operations team and to help us efficiently support our Sales, Creative, and Professional Services team members. The ideal Director is an excellent leader who has prior experience managing a mixed team and can recognize when new processes need to be established to help our growing company be efficient and successful in our industry.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Position is based in Austin, Texas.

    Will work from the main office Monday through Friday majority of the time aside from occasional needs of supporting events onsite or attending meetings with vendors or partners. PLEASE NOTE that this is primarily (95%) a desk job and not involved in the direct planning/execution of events.

    Set a positive example as a member of the RVE Leadership Team through positivity, work ethic, company culture and accountability

    Manage, lead and supervise our Operations Team and be a backup manager when other managers are on PTO or not readily available

    Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture

    Discover training needs and provide coaching where needed

    Listen to team member feedback and provide guidance in resolving issues or conflicts

    Recognize stellar performance and award accomplishments

    Technical Skills: definitely must know MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, QuickBooks and Google Drive

    Would be an extra plus if he/she knows Dropbox, Slack, Harvest, Salesforce and/or Envoy

    MINIMUM 5 years experience in Operations Management

    MINIMUM 2 years of personnel management experience in a growing company/startup environment

    STRONG PREFERENCE of at least 1 year event/hospitality industry experience

    Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year accredited University

    Oversee day-to-day operations of the company

    Comfortably work in Quickbooks and Bill.com as a responsible party member to approve payments and assist our in-house Finance Specialist to ensure timely reconciliation

    Organize all fiscal documents

    Evaluate overall company performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics

    Evaluate company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adjust as needed to evolve with our growing company for maximum efficiency

    Ensure that company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations

    Work with our legal counsel and in-house contracts specialist as needed to support the team’s program needs

    Interview potential job candidates interested in joining the RVE Team

    Introduce potential candidates to apply for various openings at RVE (when applicable)

    Assist in the onboarding and training of new hires

    Attend networking meetings, including but not limited to MPI, ILEA, SHRM, City of Austin committee meetings (membership & meeting fees will be covered by RVE). Some of these networking events occur in the evenings

    Build and strengthen relationships with industry suppliers and other strategic partners.

    Stay current on industry trends in event agency, destination management, event design and production

    Dress appropriately to represent Red Velvet Events as a Director

    Comfortable with email, phone, text/slack and in-person communication

    Analytical, organized and process-oriented

    Ability to make decisions based on critical thinking, problem solving, process knowledge, research, surveys, and trend analysis

    Comfortable working on a laptop
