Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of plush toys for the gift and souvenir market. These products are sold via 3rd party sales agents or their own direct sales force. Their product range is wide and often customized. Products are inventoried and the ability to fill customer orders on an ongoing basis is a key success factor. They have three physical locations in US and shared services such as Finance in Atlanta, GA. Their headquarters is in Denmark. There is a strong ambition for growth over the next 5 years.
The Accounts Receivable Specialist reports to the US Sr. Controller and executes specific accounting and financial tasks. Tasks include supporting sales and operations with accurate metrics and following-up on progress toward goals. This position acts as the subject matter specialist for some of the tasks handled in the Finance Team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collections experience
- Processes incoming payments from bank accounts
- Ensure on-going proper bank reconciliations
- Follows up on A/R and aging accounts
- Run credit checks on new customers
- Assist in the accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close
- Prepare and enter journal entries
- Ensure that all deadlines are met in accordance with closing dates set by management
- Work directly with operational personnel to gain an understanding of the processes behind the assigned accounts
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Skills/Qualifications Required:
- Work 100% on-site at Atlanta showroom: 225 Ottley Dr. Northeast, Atlanta, GA
- At least 5 years of experience in AR environment
- Experience working in business-to-business environment
- Comfortable with accounting systems and accounting policies and procedures
- Intermediate Excel skills: Pivot tables & v-look-ups
- Outstanding communication and strong contributor to the Finance team
- Demonstrated working knowledge of IT systems and tools to benefit accounting operations
- Comfortable working in small teams and able to both accept and provide constructive criticism
- Detail orientated
- Experience working in an international group setting and matrix organization
- Occasional travel required
