    We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Lead Campus Safety Officer.

    Required Qualifications : This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of (6) months of related work experience in customer service or security. A Class E Florida Driver’s License. CPR certification is required or must be attained within six (6) months from start date.


    Preferred Qualifications: A Florida Class “D” Security License

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum hourly rate of $14.90 with an approximate annual amount of $31,000.

    Working Hours: Regular work hours are 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. This position is based at the Daytona Campus. However, this position may require travel for temporary assignment or permanent relocation to any of the Daytona State campuses.

    Key Responsibilities **:

    **

    • Performs first line supervisory duties such as guiding Campus Safety Officers, and making frequent decisions that affect the individual, coworkers, and other who depend on the Campus Safety Department.
    • Advises Campus Safety Officers on proper enforcement of federal, state, and local laws in accordance with Daytona State College rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.
    • Responds to incidents, accidents, and emergencies on campus and writes reports. If on a branch campus, contacts Daytona Campus Command of all said incidents.
    • Works dispatch, including answering phones, dispatching calls, and monitoring alarm systems.
    • Performs patrols of assigned areas to provide security coverage, provides escort service for disabled persons and provides direction and information to students and visitors.
    • Observes and ensures resolution of safety hazards such as vehicle lights left on, flat tires, key assists and fire and tripping hazards.
    • Investigates and reports accidents, thefts, vandalism, and incidents involving breach of security. Maintains contact with local law enforcement agencies, exchange information on matters of mutual interest.
    • Maintains NIMS/FEMA certificates, CPR certificate, and class D License. Attends periodic training such as conflict resolution, report writing, AED, gold cart, and EVAC.
    • Ability and willingness to work, overtime, and on holidays and weekends. Must be flexible with job duties and available to work extended shifts with little or no prior notice.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills to provide information, guidance, or aid. The candidate must also have computer skills sufficient to prepare security incident reports as well as effective oral and written communication proficiencies.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field. Minimum 3+ years’ analysis experience preferably in the health care industry.  Strong written and oral communication. Experience in cost accounting methodologies, including cost standards, indirect allocation methodology, and cost accounting systems.

      

    Language Ability:

     

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

     

    Math Ability:

     

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

     

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    Computer Skills:

     

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong skills working with Business Intelligence tools, databases, and MS Office software products (MS Excel, Word, and Power Point) specifically using Excel formulas and Pivot Tables
