    Description:

    Seeking an associate for a high-volume, fast-paced in-house Legal team. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, preferably with knowledge of licensing business. Primary

    Working closely with an existing team to format, draft, and negotiate basic licensing agreements such as for licensing of various business names and trademarks for home goods, publishing, and hard good merchandise, and negotiating various types of agreements under the supervision of the business and legal affairs managers/ attorney(s) for all of the company's consumer products business worldwide

    Track status of deals under negotiation and ensure deal points negotiated are accurately reflected in the internal program tracking systems.

    Liaise with sales personnel and agents, including, where necessary, the Corporate Legal Department to ensure that each deal is effectively administered.

    Assist Business and Legal Affairs attorneys and executives by analyzing and summarizing comments on draft agreements from opposing representation.

    Serve as a critical business and strategy advisor to the internal sales team

    approaching each deal with a strategic mindset.

    Ensure that all paperwork is smoothly processed including completion of relevant internal approval forms, obtaining signature, and dispatch of documents to third parties. Secondary

    Serve as regular contact and resource to the company's sales units worldwide

    Liaise and interact with licensees and agents across the globe directly.

    Understand the company's financial and legal requirements, as well as strategy, for each of its contracts in key territories.

    Requirements:

     

    Between 1 to 3 years relevant experience, preferably in the entertainment industry, or at a law firm or in-house legal department.

    Excellent writing and negotiating skills (including the ability to interpret and analyze comments from opposing representation).

    Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear and effective communication skills.

    Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.

    Ability to work well under pressure.

    Ability to handle a high volume of work and multi-task a variety of assignments, as well as recognize priorities and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

    Ability to function on an independent basis, with little supervision.

    Working knowledge of the entertainment business.

    Working knowledge of contract law; familiarity with copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property law.

    Working knowledge of production-related issues and experience in production-related agreements preferred.

    Legal writing, contract analysis, and negotiation skills are a must.

    Computer skills are extremely valuable (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, knowledge/experience setting up databases, tables, knowledge of redlining software).
