Refrigeration Service Technician - Light Commercial

Role Summary:
The Light Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing light commercial refrigeration equipment in active customer environments. This role focuses on self-contained and small remote systems and requires strong diagnostic skills, independence in the field, and a customer-first approach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot, service, and repair light commercial refrigeration equipment including reach-in coolers/freezers, prep tables, display cases, ice machines, and small walk-in coolers/freezers
• Diagnose refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical system issues and complete repairs efficiently
• Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections to ensure reliable operation
• Check refrigerant pressures, superheat, and subcooling
• Replace compressors, evaporator and condenser fan motors, contactors, relays, sensors, and controls
• Identify and repair refrigerant leaks in compliance with EPA regulations
• Safely recover, evacuate, and charge refrigeration systems
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, repairs, and recommendations
• Accurately document service work using mobile service platforms
• Maintain service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory
• Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures
• Participate in on-call rotation as required
Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of light commercial refrigeration service experience
• Strong refrigeration and electrical troubleshooting skills
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to manage service calls and daily workload efficiently
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Willingness to work overtime or on-call as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with walk-in coolers and freezers
• Ice machine service experience
• Basic HVAC or hot-side equipment experience
• Experience working in retail, restaurant, grocery, or convenience store environments
• Familiarity with digital dispatch and service documentation systems
