    Summary:

    The Regional Controls Specialist will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise in support of multiple GAF manufacturing locations. The primary focus will be on process control (hardware and software), data acquisition, plant data network, and related issues. Responsibilities include the troubleshooting of control, instrument, and electrical problems adversely affecting the manufacturing process.

    Essential Duties:

    • 60% - Investigate and analyze electrical or controls related problems associated with the manufacturing operation. Take the appropriate action to correct the identified problems by applying a thorough knowledge of electrical and control theories and principles, standards and specifications, and local and national electrical codes.
    • 15% - Manage the design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment including PLCs, variable speed AC drives, servo motors and drives, and instrumentation.
    • 15% - Contribute to capital projects initiated by on-site engineering resources or the corporate Controls Team. Plan and perform work by applying a thorough knowledge of electrical and control theories and principles, standards and specifications, and local and national electrical codes. Work with plant resources and other controls team members to ensure projects are properly scheduled.
    • 5% - Develop capital project scope of works and create detailed funding requests for assigned projects.
    • 5% - Ensure software and hardware maintenance for the process control systems and the network is conducted in accordance with corporate Standards. Perform design calculations and establish specifications for electrical and process control equipment.

    • A continuous process for the polyisocyanurate thermal insulation (polyiso) roofing: Tank Farms, Material Conveying, Mixing Systems, Heating Systems, Cutting Systems, and Stacking Systems
    • Injection Molding Process: Blending Systems, Temperature Control Units, Injection Molding Equipment, and Robotics

    Controls Equipment Proficiency:

    • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely.
    • Periodically lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

    Education and Experience:

    • Associate Degree in Engineering required, preferably Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
    • 5+ years of experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment required, preferably in a Controls Specialist or Controls Engineer role.
